Our Steering Group
Steering Group MemeberEileen is a retired civil servant. She wants timely access to good quality health and social care for all the people of Gloucestershire. She has been on the boards of Age UK Gloucestershire, the Students Union of the University of Gloucestershire, and the previous HWG organisation. Eileen does casual work as an exams invigilator, and is a volunteer for schools admissions appeals panels. She combines the health and education themes in helping recruit students for the new nursing degree course at the University of Gloucestershire, where she also volunteers as a simulated patient. Eileen is married and lives in Cheltenham.
Steering Group MemeberI have had a career in journalism and news production in newspapers radio and television. On leaving the BBC after 20 years I studied as a performance coach and obtained a university master’s degree in work psychology trying to figure out how and why people behave the way they do in the workplace! I have worked with NHS England as a public/patient leader in Gloucestershire and for the past two years I have worked with the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust as a Mental Health Act Manager covering Gloucestershire and Herefordshire. I also volunteer with the Managing Memory team based at Charlton Lane Hospital in Cheltenham assisting them in running their dementia awareness courses for service users and their carers. I see first hand much of the remarkable care provided by the health professionals and their support staff but also get to hear directly from service users about the care they receive. To me, Healthwatch Gloucestershire offers a really user friendly and safe way of allowing those in need of Health and Social Care in the county to say what they think of the service they receive. I am a governor at a primary school in Cheltenham, I am on the management team of my local community association and have lived in Gloucestershire for 30 years.
