Local health and care champion, Healthwatch Gloucestershire, in partnership with the NHS, has launched a new public survey asking local people what they think about the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

The aim of the survey, which is supported by Gloucestershire’s NHS and care providers and voluntary sector partners, is to understand the publics’ views, needs and expectations, and to find out about the barriers which may be preventing some people from being vaccinated.

Healthwatch Gloucestershire will share the anonymous survey information with those responsible for making decisions about vaccine delivery in Gloucestershire, to help maximise the effectiveness of the vaccine programme across the county.  They will also share their findings with Healthwatch England, who provide feedback to health and care policy makers and commissioners at a national level.

It’s easy to share your views about the vaccine and your feedback will be anonymous.  (Survey now closed).  Call 0800 652 5193 (freephone), or email: info@healthwatchgloucestershire.co.uk.

Helen Webb, Healthwatch Gloucestershire Manager, explained why it’s important for people to get involved: “The NHS in Gloucestershire is working hard to deliver COVID-19 vaccines across the county, with over 300,000 doses given so far.  However, this is the largest ever public vaccination programme, so there are many challenges and there may be things that could be done differently or improved.  Our NHS partners recognise the value of listening to and learning from local people, so we are gathering public feedback to help them make vaccine delivery as effective as possible.  By sharing your views with us, you will help our local health services spot issues affecting how they care for you and your loved ones.”

Becky Parish, Associate Director Patient Engagement, NHS Gloucestershire CCG, welcomed the Healthwatch Gloucestershire survey, saying: “It’s really important we understand what people think about the vaccine programme.  We hope the information gathered will help us support people to take up the offer of vaccination at the appropriate time.”
