Men's health and fatherhood: complete our survey
We want to hear about:
- the challenges you have faced
- what is available for men in Gloucestershire to remain healthy and mentally well during fatherhood
- the support you found valuable
- what you believe would have improved your wellbeing
There is an opportunity to leave your contact details at the end of the survey to enter a prize draw to win a £50 voucher.
How am I?... thanks for asking, nobody normally does, in fact you’re the first person who’s asked since my baby was born 4 months ago.
We know that men are less likely to seek help for mental health concerns
- 5 - 10% of fathers experience postnatal depression
- 5 - 15% of fathers experience perinatal anxiety
- 12.5% of men in the UK are suffering from one of the common mental health disorders
- 40% of men never speak to anyone about their mental health
By exploring the experiences of both new fathers and those with older children, this project will provide valuable insight into what supports men to stay well throughout fatherhood.
Our findings will inform local service development and contribute to ensuring that fathers are meaningfully included in conversations about their health and wellbeing.
By identifying what helps men to stay well during and beyond the transition to fatherhood, our aim is to support the development of more responsive, preventative and person-centred services that improve health and wellbeing outcomes for fathers across Gloucestershire.
